Jesus invited his friends to come with him on new adventures that deepened their faith and understanding of who He was. Likewise, Saint Kenneth Parish invites young people to continue their initiation into the community of believers by preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation celebrates the presence of God's special strength and gifts in each baptized person. These youth will take time to build community with each other as they learn and grow in faith through prayer, catechetical sessions, service opportunities, and a retreat experience.

Choosing Your Confirmation Sponsor
The Church community invites its youth to take their place among the people of God. The Vatican II Constitution on the church in the Modern World reminds us that God calls us not as individuals but as a people with mutual bonds, as a community in solidarity with one another and with Jesus (#32).
Toward that goal your Confirmation Sponsor…
Choosing a Confirmation Name
Many people choose an additional saint’s name at Confirmation. The preferred name however, is the baptismal name because it expresses the relationship that exists between Baptism and Confirmation.
If a new name is taken, it is recommended to be the name of a recognized saint of the Catholic Church.
Names of saints are chosen to serve as patrons and models for those being confirmed. Candidates should choose a patron saint’s name, not because of the attractiveness of the name, but because of the Christian life that the person led.
